The teenager who was attacked by Jade Goody’s boyfriend has condemned the decision to release him from prison early.

Jack Tweed was sentenced to 18 months behind bars in September after being found guilty of assaulting teenager Daniel Steele with a golf club. However, he left jail on January 27 after agreeing to comply with a strict curfew and wear an electronic tag.

Goody has welcomed her partner’s release, claiming that he will be a key figure of support as she battles cervical cancer.

However, speaking about the attack for the first time, 18-year-old Steele told the Sunday Mirror: “Jack Tweed is an animal and he should still be in jail. I am angry and upset to see that he has been released so early.

“What makes it worse is that no-one told us he was coming out. It is awful to see his smiling face all over the newspapers and to see Jade saying how wonderful he is.”

He added: “I feel desperately sorry for Jade and wish her all the best, but that does not change what Jack did to me.”

Steele was rushed to hospital in the aftermath of the incident, which occurred when he was 16.

“They said I could have been killed,” he explained. “I don’t think I’ll ever get over it.”
